Description
You are bidding on an EXCELLENT example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe AK39 Armkompaß (Wrist Compass), Fl. 23235, as used by various German pilots and crew members! This is the rarer 1st model. The AK39 Wrist Compass was designed for wear by pilots and crew for correctly calculating their position if forced to bail out or after a crash.
Though it was designed to be worn on the wrist, it was commonly attached to various other pieces of equipment (zipper, straps, etc.).
Made of black bakelite, this compass is in VERY NICE used condition.
95% of the original finish remains, however there are some slight marks due to the age.
Brought back by a US veteran (probably from a captured pilot), it features 360 degree markings on the face, and it is still 100% functional.
The bottom is clearly marked, "AK39", and the Fl. label indicates Fl. 23235.
Missing the straps but replacements come up quite a bit on eBay. Would make for a PERFECT addition to any
collection or display!

------------------- ABOUT ME -----------------
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
