    Description

This listing is for ONE goncalo alves tigerwood finished stool that measures 18 inches in height X 17 to 20 inches in diameter. We salvaged a giant log from the river and made these stools. They have been sanded and finished with durable polyurethane. This wood has a lot of figure--black stripes--and beautiful oranges, yellows, and reds. This wood is very hard and takes a glass like finish.  Some people call this wood gonzalo or gonzalo alves. Historically this wood has been called golden ebony. It is also called tigerwood because of the amazing black strips and yellow and orange colors. This 18 inch tall X 17 to 20 inch diameter finished log has two flat sides. It could be used as a coffee table or night stand. Or this 18 inch tall log could be used as a stool. The scientific or latin name for this wood is astrononium graveolens. We planted more than ten thousand of these in democratic Costa Rica. Showrooms and art galleries sell pieces similar to this for thousands of dollars.
