    Description

    GERMANY | A wooden " Sippenteller " linden wood clan plate (1936/38)
Up for sale is this rare authentic 1930ties hand carved linden wood clan plate ( Sippenleuchter ) that was used for elite wedding, birth and Christmas ( Yule ) celebrations, similar to the Allach plates. The diameter of this big plate is app. 14 inches, a big combined flower/sun symbol is displayed the center. The plate is inscribed UNSER TĂ„GLICHES BROT GIBT UNS HEUTE (And give us today our daily bread), but the carver has avoided all Christian symbols to create a Pagan, "Germanic" piece. With four little ball-shaped feet. The light linden wood has been stained dark to make it look like ancient oak wood. Excellent condition with minimal use. The use of theese plates was propagated by organisations such as the German " Ahnenerbe " foundation. Property from a private art and design collection.
